Uterine artery embolization (UAE) - treatment of uterine fibroids

What you should know about the procedure at a glance.

If you have been referred to us for a uterine artery embolization (UAE) / myoma embolization, you can find out about the procedure in advance here.

Myomas are benign lumps that usually occur on or in the uterus. Why fibroids develop is still largely unknown. Myomas can also grow rapidly under the influence of female hormones (oestrogen). This can be observed from time to time during pregnancy. Myomas can occur in all areas of the uterus. They may be located inside the uterine cavity, in the wall of the uterus or spread from the uterus towards the bladder, bowel or abdomen.
