Mammography

Mammography ("breast cancer screening") is a method for the diagnosis and early detection of breast cancer ("breast carcinoma"). Senology describes the part of medicine that deals with the female breast. Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and occurs predominantly in women, but can also occur in men. We offer a wide range of state-of-the-art mammography methods and methods for taking tissue samples (biopsies) from the breast.

Our range of diagnostic services includes digital mammography, high-resolution ultrasound (breast sonography) including duplex sonography, tomosynthesis (3D mammography) and mammography using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI mammography).

All outpatients and inpatients with senological issues are treated using the following methods:

  • X-ray mammography using digital, direct flat-panel detector technology
  • X-ray mammography: tomosynthesis (layered examination of the breast) with low radiation exposure compared to other providers ("low-dose mammography")
  • MRI mammography with state-of-the-art MRI systems (1.5 Tesla and 3.0 Tesla magnetic field strength), equipped for all special applications in breast diagnostics
  • Breast sonography with high-resolution ultrasound

Tissue biopsies (transcutaneous biopsies) of the breast (mamma) are also carried out according to the latest scientific standards. We perform X-ray stereotactic vacuum biopsies and MRI-guided vacuum biopsies.

Emergency indications

Emergency indications are treated by X-ray mammography, sonography and, if necessary, MR mammography on the day of registration or within a few days if possible. This also applies to referrals from the statutory outpatient care sector.
