Clinical studies
Clinical studies are used to test new treatment options or to optimize existing therapies. As a rule, studies fall into two categories: studies on drugs/medicines (AMG studies) or studies on medical devices (MPG studies). The latter can be studies on new technical therapeutic procedures, for example. The results of clinical trials later benefit all patients for whom the treatment being tested can be used.
In every clinical trial, the safety of the trial participants is paramount and a trial can be terminated at any time depending on the situation. The physicians and scientific staff conducting the studies not only pay attention to the effect of the treatment, but also to good tolerability, dosage and the well-being of the study participants.
Before you are asked whether you would like to take part in a study, the study has already been critically reviewed by several institutions and found to be medically and ethically sound. If we suggest that you take part in a study, you will first receive detailed information about the purpose of the study and any risks and side effects. Participation in studies is generally voluntary for patients.
The Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology conducts studies independently and, as an imaging facility, is involved in a large number of clinical studies at other institutes.
