Pediatric radiology
As a paediatric radiology department, we see it as our special task to carry out diagnostic imaging in an age-appropriate manner. The primary goal is to reach a diagnosis quickly using gentle, age-appropriate and radiation-saving examination modalities. Knowledge of possible diseases in childhood and adolescence, which differ considerably from those in adulthood, is of great importance. In order to carry out targeted diagnostics, close cooperation takes place with the attending doctors in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Interdisciplinary contact is an important pillar of effective pediatric radiology diagnostics.
We offer the following examinations:
X-ray examinations, fluoroscopic examinations, sonographies, computer tomographies (CT) and magnetic resonance tomographies (MRT).
Our priority is on radiation-free imaging procedures such as ultrasound (sonography) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). But even if an X-ray examination is unavoidable, our specially trained staff know how to protect their young patients in the best possible way.
It is very important to us that our young patients and those accompanying them feel comfortable and accepted by us. Talking to parents about planned examinations and explaining the examination results are therefore a natural part of our work. The presence of a parent during the examination is a matter of course for us.
We are responsible for the diagnostic imaging of all inpatients and outpatients at the pediatric clinic. We also offer all examination modalities for outpatients who are referred to us by practicing paediatricians and by the surrounding maternity clinics. For ultrasound examinations, we have a total of four stationary and one portable high-end sonography device of the latest generation at our disposal. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are carried out at the Diagnostic and Therapy Center West (DTZ).
