Mammography is a method for the early detection of breast cancer (breast carcinoma). The examination is carried out on special X-ray machines. Each breast is photographed from two or, if necessary, several directions. During the scan, the breast is moderately compressed between the object table and a Plexiglas plate. This is necessary to keep the radiation dose low and to provide the best possible image of the breast region to be examined.
We also have the option of digital tomosynthesis (3D mammography).
