Practical year
The University Hospital of Cologne, a maximum care facility and university teaching center with extensive research opportunities, offers you ideal opportunities to complete an elective traineeship in radiology. As part of your tertial, we want to offer you the chance to get to know the full scope of radiology and its many possible applications. At the beginning of your traineeship, we will work out an individual rotation plan with you, which will try to take into account any existing special interests (e.g. sonography, emergency radiology, etc.). In addition to participating in regular internal departmental training courses, we hold weekly PJ case discussions in which specific case studies are used to reinforce learning content. We also provide time for self-study with your own workstation in the seminar room. The teaching case collections specially compiled for the students are particularly suitable for this. We also provide you with the radiology textbook from the dual series throughout the entire potential for comprehensive preparation for the state examination.
Our teaching offers:
- Individual rotation plan with the following functional units: X-ray, CT, MRI, sonography, senology, angiography, neuroradiology, pediatric radiology, emergency radiology.
- Weekly PJ training with interactive diagnosis, introduction to the technical basics of image creation
- Participation in departmental early training/early meetings
- One hour of self-study per day in the seminar room with a PC workstation for quiet and independent work, including teaching case collections
- Working hours 8:00 to 16:30 (purely optional participation in on-call duties)
- One study day per week
- The radiology textbook from the Dual Series on loan during the entire PJ tertial
- Opportunity to independently interpret X-ray images and cross-sectional images with subsequent supervision
